Our classes / Beginners Series
The front door to your practice
Four weeks, a small group, and zero assumed knowledge. The gentlest way into yoga at Solas.
The Beginners Series is exactly what it sounds like. Over four weeks, in a small group, you learn the shapes, the names, and how to set up your mat without guessing. Nothing is taken for granted, and no one expects you to already know what a downward dog is or where your breath is supposed to go. You arrive as a beginner and you leave knowing your way around a class.
It runs on a rolling intake, so you can start when you are ready rather than waiting for a fixed term to come round. Book the first session and we will save your spot for the rest of the series. Each session runs seventy-five minutes, which is long enough to learn something properly and short enough that it never feels like a slog.
Who it is for
Anyone who is new to yoga, or coming back after a long time away. If you have ever stood at the back of a busy class feeling a step behind everyone else, this is the antidote. The group is kept small on purpose, so there is room for questions, room to slow down, and room to get things wrong without an audience. Everyone in the room is starting from the same place.
What to expect
A calm, unhurried pace and plenty of explanation. You will learn the foundation poses, how to move with your breath, and how to read what a teacher is asking for without panicking. We build up gently across the four weeks, so each session adds a little to the last. By the end you will have the vocabulary and the confidence to walk into any of our all-levels classes and feel at home.
What to bring
Yourself, some water, and clothes you can move in. That is genuinely all. Mats and props are free to borrow at the studio, so there is nothing to buy before you start and nothing to remember on the day. Come a few minutes early to your first session and let us know it is your first time. Everyone starts somewhere.
The level
Beginner, in the truest sense. This is the front door, and Restorative is the soft landing alongside it. There are no prerequisites and nothing you need to have done first. If you are not sure where to start at Solas, you are looking at the right page.
Who teaches it, and where
The series is led by Marcus Reid at Solas Venice, in the Main Room. He keeps the group small, the pace steady, and the welcome warm. All levels are genuinely welcome, and the “all levels” here really does start at zero.
When it runs
Sessions run on a rolling intake through the week, with each one lasting seventy-five minutes. The simplest way to see the next available start and book your place is to head to the schedule. Book the first session and your spot in the rest of the series is held for you.
